Bowdoin Tournament - April 5-6

We had another great weekend for the Women's Water Polo team.  We played strongly against BU in our first game, holding them to three goals in the end (10-13 loss).  We followed with a tough game against Yale (5-16), but we kept the smiles on and worked on clean passes, defense, and a strong offensive set up.

We had an early start Sunday morning with a 9am game against MIT.  Bates women held strong and showed effective offense with impressive offense and defense during exclusions (man-up and man-down).  We came out with a loss, but improved both our technique and comfort with the game.  We finished the weekend off against Bowdoin.  Bowdoin had us in speed and came out with a win against our team.  However, the Bates women had strong perimeter passes, good communication, and a great attitude.

This week we are all working through our finals week of the spring semester.  We are looking forward to our final weekend of the 2014 season and hope you come out to support us at Boston University. Our games on Saturday, April 12 are at 2:10pm against BU, and 4:40pm against MIT.  Sunday's schedule will be determined from Saturday's results.

Yale Tournament - March 3, 2014

We had a great first tournament to start off the season.  We won our first game against Bowdoin College, followed by two more well played games on Saturday.  We finished Saturday winning the first quarter against Yale (4-3) with a final score of 11-14, losing by only three points to the top team in the league.  We went back to the Geissinger household following our three games for some Italian food and team bonding.  Bates Water Polo finished off the weekend well in our final game against Wellesley College.  Bobcats held the Wellesley girls to a tie until half, where Wellesley developed a smart strategy, shutting down some of our offense.  We kept strong defense, however, and played a smart game.

We are looking forward to our next five weeks of training in preparation for our second tournament at Bowdoin on April 5-6.  The team looks strong, and we are having fun playing a sport we all love.  Thank you for your support and photographs from this past weekend will be posted soon.
